The Boys and their AU Books.
These are workbooks I made for the boys. Full of questions, missions, trivia and activities to go along with each sight we saw or action-packed day we had while we were in Australia. They earn points for each question answered or activity completed, and they exchange their points for cash to buy a souvenir at the end of our trip. Even the car rides aren't bad when you get $ for seeing a certain speed limit sign, a kangaroo, a green truck, someone eating a hamburger. Ah, the things we resort to when we go without video games.
Lots of beach time.
Ty & Jim climbed record-breaking heighths and leaned over the edge for a not-so-cheap thrill.
I was handicapped with my broken arm and Bo wasn't tall enough, so we hung out at the pool.

We had a game room in our condo complex.
One of us looks crazy.
Us on a jet-boat in Gold Coast.
We were testing Bo's limits on this excursion. 360's at high speed and playing chicken with cement posts. You couldn't pay Bo to do it again, but Ty loved it.
NRL - Professional Rugby Game.
More beaches in Coff's Harbour. This was a sleepy town, and it rained on us for a couple days but we played on through it.
Next stop: Port Maquarie. This apartment was a dream. The living room had walls that opened floor to ceiling to the ocean air - and a view of dolphins jumping. We cooked-in every night because I didn't want to leave. Ever!
The crazies - turning a nice plunging pool into a circus.
Historic lighthouse picnic.
Port Macquarie is home to the only koala hospital in the world. Our visit through it was the absolute highlight for me.
This board lists the current koala patients under the hospitals care. Each koala is given a first and second name. The first name is that of the individual that found & reported the hurt/sick koala and the second half of its name is the area where he/she was found.
Lots of the koalas come in sick with disease, but their main predators are vehicles and dogs. Port Macquarie is doused in eucalyptus trees so especially during breeding season they are roaming in back yards and crossing streets.
Our last stop - Sydney
Of all things to do in Sydney... we took a ferry, and then a public bus, and then a loooong walk to find... segways?
The boys have wanted to rent segways on just about every trip we've taken, but the age limit always gets in our way. We visited this random suburb outside Sydney because of its loose rules. While others were touring museums and studying the city's history - we were in the boonies riding segways through a field.
We did find time to tour the Opera House - an architectural dream.
everyone took the tour very seriously.
Our AU trip.
